“Do you want me to touch you?” His voice rumbled low in his chest.
Laura didn’t immediately answer. The sound of hooves on cobblestones and men advertising their wares could be heard outside the carriage. This, she knew, was a challenge, and she didn’t want to lose. She had been right. They only thing standing between him and her complete surrender was her pride.
“No,” she said, but the word was not as firm as she’d intended, her voice trembling as she hovered on the edge of what he was forcing her to feel for him.
Rem grinned, his lower lip barely grazing hers by accident. “You are stubborn, aren’t you?” He moved his head to the side, whispering in her ear. “That’s alright. I like a challenge.”
